Crossroads

Every traveler comes across
Their own share of crossroads.

And she stood on hers today.
Hoping to find a better, righteous path.
She realized there was none.
While one allowed her to follow her heart,
The other offered her the chance to fulfill a promise.

Is there a better way?
A righteous path, as they say?
Not taking one would make her a coward,
And not taking the other would make her selfish.

You see, it was an impossible choice.
Because she was courageous and selfless.
Because she wanted to follow her heart
And fulfil her promise.

How could she choose?
None seemed less travelled.
None showed her footprints
or a chance of survival.

Because she could have been
the only traveler to witness this.

Unfair isn’t it?

But every traveler comes across
Their own share of crossroads.

And that made it the most fair thing
In the world.
